Cardano’s Yoroi Wallet to Soon Enable Users to Interact with Dapps Like Ethereum’s Metamask

EMURGO, a global emerging technologies company and a funding entity of the Cardano blockchain protocol, which successfully developed and launched Yoroi Wallet in 2018, has started working on the wallet in preparation for the smart contracts era on the Cardano network.

Yoroi is a secure way of easily sending, receiving, and storing Cardano (ADA) and Ergo (ERG) via mobile apps and browser extensions.

In a tweet on 17th June 2021, EMURGO pointed out that its team of developers is making effort to prepare Yoroi Wallet for the much-anticipated era of smart contracts on Cardano.

EMURGO tweeted, “It’s an all out effort getting ready for Cardano’s highly anticipated Alonzo hard fork. Read our update on Yoroi and how EMURGO developers are working towards implementing the required changes to be ready for Cardano’s smart contracts era.”

According to EMURGO, Yoroi was designed to serve as a daily light wallet for Cardano (ADA) users and to become the worthy wallet for Cardano users to interact within a broader Cardano ecosystem and its different decentralized applications (DApps).

In a blog post today, EMURGO noted:

With smart contract functionality on the horizon for Cardano’s blockchain through the upcoming Goguen era, Cardano recently launched the first of three testnets for smart contract functionality with the implementation of the Alonzo Blue testnet.

“Once smart contracts are integrated into Cardano’s blockchain with the official Alonzo hard fork mainnet release, it will support the development of a wide variety of DApp services including DeFi, NFTs, and the migration of projects from other blockchain platforms to Cardano.”

How EMURGO Prepares Yoroi Wallet for Cardano’s Smart Contracts Era

According to the report, EMURGO is currently working to implement the required changes to be ready for Cardano’s Alonzo hard fork.

As the Alonzo hard fork is expected to introduce smart contracts and DApps functionalities on Cardano, EMURGO is developing a DApp connector to support both ADA and ERG.

EMURGO expects the update to make Yoroi Wallet become similar to Ethereum’s MetaMask Wallet:

“Through these updates, we envision that Yoroi Wallet will be similar to the MetaMask Wallet for Ethereum, by enabling Yoroi Wallet users to interact with a wide variety of DApps contributing to the expansion of a decentralized economy and the overall Cardano ecosystem.”
