It seems like crypto enthusiasts can check another thing off the list – a crypto-focused phone. Solana Mobile, the Solana-powered company, announced the launch of its upcoming Android phone. Called ‘Saga,’ the device will be available for order on May 8. According to recent reports, the phone is available for orders from customers from the US, Canada UK, EU, and a handful of other countries.

A Phone That Gives Users a Complete Web3 Experience

The futuristic Solana device is developed to give users a seamless Web3 experience from their phone. Solana Mobile’s lead software engineer, Steven Laver, explained that current methods to engage in a Web3 experience are still limited to devices with bigger screens.

This is despite the fact that people interact with their phones a lot more than they do with other devices. In an interview, he said that he couldn’t remember the last time he used a device besides his phone. He explained that whenever he’s starting any activity, it begins with his phone. The only exception is accessing Web3, which requires a computer.

Solana Saga Offers The Best of Both Worlds

Laver went on to discuss how typical app stores have strict rules with regard to payment systems. Consequently, Web3 applications end up compromising on various aspects just to ensure that the application reaches app stores.

Uniswap Labs developed an iOS wallet application that faced numerous roadblocks before it was finally launched for users in a few select countries. In this situation, the Solana Saga offers a solution because it comes with a separate Solana app store. Users will be quick to note that the device is helpful for the newest generation of Web3 audiences and ensures their security as well.

Greater Focus on Security

Customers who purchase the Solana Saga phone will have to connect their Web3 wallets. Or they’ll need to create a seed vault, which is incorporated into the device. In essence, it’s pretty similar to mobile pay – a common feature in today’s smartphones.

The Solana app store will have numerous dApps that are available for purchase. These dApps will be connected to the seed vault, which will allow quick and seamless transactions. When asked about the private key custody, Laver explained that it’s built below the Android system.

This way, the phone has all the Android features that users are already familiar with. Meanwhile, the Android operating system on the phone is used to deliver information in a simpler, more familiar way.

He also elaborated that users should have complete control of their digital assets. Moreover, they should feel comfortable about taking these assets with them. It’s why the Solana Saga is more secure than a conventional software-based system.
