In a recent announcement on Telegram, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, revealed that the network would soon launch the Shibarium Beta test phase in the coming weeks. According to Kusama, the Shibarium upgrade would be live after the development team made significant progress.

Beta Test On The Way

In a screenshot of the Telegram message shared by a source familiar with the matter, Kusama reportedly disclosed that the upgrade is “coming soon.” Furthermore, the developer noted that the upgrade for the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution for the digital meme currency would soon be launched.

It is worth noting that the update is long overdue, and the SHIB community has been increasingly impatient with the numerous delays since the beginning of the year. It was reported that the upgrade, called “unification,” was disclosed in early 2022 and that the beta test phase for the Shibarium update would go live by the end of September.

However, due to a technical problem, the move did not go as planned, and the team decided to move the launch date further. Over the past week, SHIB holders have anticipated the long-awaited launch date by speculating that it will soon follow the countdown update posted by some development team members.

Following Kusama’s previous message to the team that the focus should be on the L2 scaling solution, the community believes the timeline is for the Shibarium update. However, things turned out differently after it emerged that the countdown was for the Shiba Inu website upgrade, which left many disappointed.

Focusing On Website Upgrade

According to a Shiba Inu developer with the alias SHIB Trophias, improving the leading site is vital to the successful launch of the Shibarium upgrade. The developer noted that the main priority is to improve Shiba Inu’s website before the other development team proceeds with the unveiling of the update.

Due to technical problems, Trophias noted that the team would take on the project in batches because it could not complete the task at once. Nevertheless, there is yet to be a scheduled timeline for the release of the Shibarium update; the beta test date is still being determined.

However, the tests will likely occur in early 2023 due to the holidays. Meanwhile, the Shiba Inu community anticipates that the network upgrade will upgrade its scalability and transaction speed.

The launch of the Shibarium protocol would help boost the price of SHIB. Analysts predict that SHIB’s price will attain the $0.10 level upon the completion of the update.
