Microsoft has been invested in various Web3 ventures alongside other tech companies. The firm has also undertaken the Web3 Microsoft workspace project that may transform the international working environment in the future and transition into a new type of corporate culture.

The latest Web3 project of the tech company is a new non-custodial wallet extension. This wallet is going to be NFT compatible also and Microsoft engineers intend to add it as a built-in feature of the Edge browser.

The introduction of this wallet indicates that Microsoft users will now be able to access both their cryptocurrency and NFT reserves without needing a third-party application. These features are going to be available for all the users who have the latest version of Edge wallet installed on their workstations.

The software documenter of Microsoft Albacore has shared the latest updates on the new Web3 wallet for the Edge browser. However, at present, there is not a lot of enthusiasm around the new Web3 wallet feature as seemed in this tweet.

There are some other browsers such as Brave that are working with crypto wallet extensions. However, as per the updates shared by Albacore, the Microsoft Web3 wallet is a built-in feature and a non-custodial option that is also compatible with NFTs.

To shed some light on the matter, Albacore shared some screenshots of the Edge User Interface that reveal the first glance of the Web3 wallet feature. The tweet by Albacore also shared that it is not currently sure about the viability of the new feature.

One of the screenshots shared by Albacore depicted the introduction page of the Web3 wallet on the Edge browser. Microsoft devs have added a message for the first-time users on this page telling them to test the Web3 wallet and share their first experience and candid feedback with them for the best results.

Thus far, Microsoft has decided to keep the non-custodial nature of the wallet.  It means that the users are going to have complete control over their wallets including passwords and recovery phrases.

Edge Browser Users can Send, Receive and Swap Cryptocurrency via New Wallet

Microsoft has made it clear that the new wallet is not an extension but rather a built-in feature. The users of this browser application will be able to sell, purchase, and swap their cryptocurrency reserves.

Coinbase has partnered with Microsoft to make wallet support possible. On the other hand, the NFT support for this wallet feature is backed by MoonPay.

Users will be able to visit various NFT marketplaces to purchase or sell new products through their wallets. By introducing these unique features Microsoft is ramping up the Edge browser extension against competitors like Chrome and Safari.

On the other hand, Microsoft has also announced integration with the AI projects such as ChatGPT by OpenAI for upgrading Bing search and Edge browser.
