Bitcoin advocate Magnus Granath, known as Hodlonaut on twitter, recently won his legal battle with Australian computer scientist Craig Samuel Wright in Norway. He’s however convinced Wright would appeal the ruling in the U.K.

Norway Court’s Verdict Would Not Deter Wright

After his Victory in Granath vs Wright in Norway, Hodlonaut notes that Wright will most likely sue and appeal the verdict in the U.K where defamation laws are more stringent. Granath vs Wright is a defamation case which was filed in March 2019.

Wright, 52, has yet to convincingly prove that he is indeed the creator of Bitcoin, noted the Norwegian Judge. In 2019, Granath preempted that Wright was going to sue after he got doxxed by Wright’s private investigators. The recently won suit however acquitted Granath of defamation charges.

Hodlonaut thinks Wright might even go ahead to appeal to the Norwegian supreme court separately apart from the suit he believes he will be slapped with in the U.K. Wright’s attorneys told reporters that the fight isn’t quite over.

The whole issue started in 2019 when Hodlonaut outed Wright and called him a liar for claiming he is the one behind the pseudonym “Satoshi Nakamoto”. Per Wright, he actively participated in Bitcoin’s creation alongside the deceased Dave Kleiman, a computer security expert.

Wright made this claim immediately after Wired magazine and Gizmodo published articles about the possibility of his being Nakamoto in a December 2015 article.

The Oslo Trial And Judgement

After what seemed like an unending trial in Oslo Norway, the District Court Judge Helen Engebrigtsen acquitted Granath of all claims for compensation relating to his 2019 tweets about Wright.

Judge Engebrigtsen noted that the evidence provided by Wright’s lawyers to the court were unsuitable and not enough to prove that Craig Wright is in fact Satoshi Nakamoto so Granath’s tweets where he used words like ‘scammer’, ‘fraud’ in 2019 were fair.

The judge also ordered Wright to pay for Granath’s legal fees in the amount of NOK 4,053,750 which is around $383,000.
