The date of the launch of Tron 4.0 that is coming with zk-SNARKs (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge) has finally been announced.
The date was announced on 6th June, via the official Twitter handle of TRONZ Foundation. According to the report, TRON 4.0 protocol will be launched officially on 7th July 2020.
The report furthered that the upcoming development is the first time zk-SNARKs will be implemented on a blockchain-powered smart-contracts.
TRONZ Foundation wrote:
“Announcement. Extremely excited to announce the TRONZ Smart Contract Privacy Protocol, an integral part of the TRON 4.0 protocol, will officially go live on July 7th, 2020! Once launched, the TRONZ Smart Contract Privacy Protocol will 1. Support all TRC20 tokens 2. Maintain adequate funds and active developers 3. 100% open-sourced, available to all and free of charge.
“This will mark the first time in history where zk-SNARKs will be implemented on a blockchain-powered by smart-contracts.”
Justin Sun Corroborates the Announcement
The founder and CEO of Tron (TRX), Justin Sun, corroborated the announcement made by TRONZ Foundation regarding the launch date of TRON 4.0, showcasing his excitement towards the upcoming milestone.
In the tweet, Sun stated that the launch of TRON 4.0 protocol will represent a moment of history in the Tron ecosystem.

Four Important Features of TRON 4.0
In a Medium post published on 7th June 2020, Justin Sun explained four important features imbedded in the soon to be launched TRON 4.0 protocol.
These features include:
- The TRONZ Smart Contract Privacy Protocol – The first smart contract privacy protocol supported by a Virtual Machine.
- The TPOS Dual-Layer Consensus Mechanism combining the advantages of DPoS and PBFT thus reducing block confirmation times from 57 seconds to 3 seconds.
- New TICP Cross-Chain protocol that will usher in a cross-chain era for the Tron ecosystem.
- Financial institution and enterprise blockchain solution for the deployment of customized blockchain-based applications.
