The news of a potential crypto data center coming to McLouth, Kansas, has been met with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity by residents in the area. According to reports, the center would be located about a mile and a half north of the town and built by an unnamed company.
Though little is known about the project, some residents fear it could bring noise, traffic, and security concerns to the area. Their primary worries are that the site may damage the nearby environment and create too much noise.
Residents Voice Their Disapproval
Many inhabitants of McLouth expressed their disapproval regarding the potential construction of a crypto data-processing hub on a close-by natural gas meadow. A local of the town, Paul Nissen, went into more detail about the area:
“It’s been said this is coming to our district, about one and a half miles from where we currently stand. They will provide their generators to run it, powered by natural gas extracted from the natural gas meadow.”
Roger Dahlby, an engineer involved in constructing the Crypto Colo Center data hub, stated that the facility could create noise, thus, consuming the energy reserves of the area and leading to pollution.
He, however, reassures that the company will utilize renewable energy sources while also offering job prospects to the town with a population of less than 900. Edith Williams, another McLouth citizen, expressed her dedication to preserving the current condition of the area.
She indicated that regardless of the potential advantages, the bulk of the citizens are still in opposition to the idea of a crypto miner. Williams affirmed doing all she could to keep it away from her home.
Despite this, a city council meeting must take place to consider the risks that this facility may present and conclude whether or not to approve it.
Crypto Miner’s Jet-Like Roar Forces Residents to Consider Relocation
In a related development, Murphy, North Carolina’s inhabitants have recently expressed dissatisfaction with the noise coming from a crypto miner close to the town. According to them, the noise was so loud that some had to move.
Mike Lugiewicz, one of those who stayed, says he is seriously considering relocation due to the extreme sound levels. “This morning, it’s registering at around 85 decibels. It’s like having a jet on the tarmac right behind your house which never takes off, or being inside Niagara Falls and not being able to find silence”.
He stated that the miner had harmed the national energy system and caused the town to be without power for the duration of the yuletide break. Lugiewicz requested that the relevant authorities take steps to remove the miner so that the older adults of Murphy would not need to leave their hometown.
