Ripple, the US-based cross-border payment company has recently announced the addition of the digital token XRP to BRD wallet.
According to Ripple, the addition of XRP on the wallet came about as a result of stern customers’ demand for access to more digital assets on the wallet, especially those with specific use cases.
Users of iOS will be the first to access XRP on the wallet, followed by the users of Android. As reported by Ripple, the addition of XRP on BRD wallet is long overdue, since the digital token has proven its worth in terms of scalability and utility for real use cases such as remittance and cross-border payments.
The recent Xpring investment in BRD and the addition of XRP are targeted at enhancing the company’s expansion and to achieve its initial aim of building an easily accessible crypto wallet.
In co-founder Aaron Voisine’s remark, XRP is preplanned to be one of the first digital currencies in BRD’s new Blockset product, an enterprise-grade API and hosting solution for blockchain data.
Regarding the aim of the new service arising from BRD, Ripple shared thus, “This new service is envisioned as a high-uptime, high-availability SaaS-like service for banks and other crypto businesses that need access to Bitcoin, XRP and other blockchain data—but who find it cost-prohibitive or too difficult to maintain on their own.”
Aside from Blockset, BRD also has a ground plan to leverage its partnership with Ripple to help develop Xpring’s API that is capable of introducing new useful features to the product for better and easier deployment.
The co-founder of BRD Voisine believes a lot in the future prospect of digital assets, due to the increase in the number of notable banks and financial institutions showing interest in the innovation.
Conclusively, Ripple is thrilled and inspired by BRD’s mission to democratize the use of and access to cryptocurrencies for consumers and businesses. The blockchain tech is also impressed in seeing BRD turning to XRP and the Ripple community to make the vision a reality.
