The CEO of IOHK and co-creator of Cardano (ADA), Charles Hoskinson, was some hours ago in an interview with Ryan Selkis from Messari, where he spoke expressly about the progress of the cryptographic project, challenges, and the post-Shelley roadmap.
In the course of the conversation, Hoskinson noted that the last two years were very difficult for the tech firm he oversees, IOHK. He also stated that the decision to go with Haskell back then is getting apparently beneficial today.
He said,
“But the reality is that all the things we were working on for the last 5 years are coming together all at once. Now we are in the situation where we can ship things in a matter of weeks that normally would have taken us months with the old code and processes…
“The other thing is we are starting to get a competitive advantage from Haskell. What people don’t understand about Haskell and functional programming is; yes, it is very hard and there’s a big barrier to entry, but you have to write a lot less code, so cases 5-10 times less code than C++ or Java.”
Prism Will Compete With Microsoft
During the interview, Charles Hoskinson said that IOHK will present a new roadmap for developments that will come after the launch of Shelley at the virtual summit coming up in a few weeks’ time.
He added that how Cardano can be used commercially will also be discussed at the virtual summit. Hoskinson specifically pointed out that Prism, an identity solution that uses decentralized IDs is intended to compete with Microsoft in the market.
“Like our identity product Prism. We gonna do a major demo at the summit in July and then we should give you guys a beautiful roadmap how we want to get it out in the market and compete with Microsoft and the other offerings, probably before the end of the year.
“And what’s nice that is already used in production. We are using parts of that for the credentials system in Georgia and we are bidding on a farmers vouching system […] and it allows us to be very competitive in the permissioned ownership space which is where security tokens live and these other asset classes.” Charles Hoskinson added
Conclusively, Hoskinson said that more information about the roadmap will be made available for the Cardano community at the virtual summit.
