Ryan Wyatt, Polygon Labs President, has gained popularity since joining the company in January 2022. He was previously involved in esports and gaming. Wyatt worked as a commentator in Call of Duty League before becoming the Vice President of Programming for Major League Gaming.

Given his reputation in the gaming space, what made him shift to crypto? Well, Wyatt says he could not resist the idea of digital ownership. He adds that as people continue spending money on digital assets, they also want more freedom and ownership over those assets, and luckily blockchain facilitates that.

The President continues to say that, while other people focus more on the economic view of crypto, he, on the other side, is all about embracing Web3 to make sure the full potential of true digital ownership is realized.

What Web2 Gamers Stand to Benefit From Web3 Adoption

The possible benefits for gamers are clear despite some traditional video game fans opposing NFTs. Today, Gamers are already paying for digital items in popular games like Call of Duty and Fortnite that they cannot use in other games or even resell. However, Blockchain-based games can give gamers that level of control.

When asked why he chose Polygon Labs over other crypto firms, Wyatt said Polygon allows him to work with various builders and creators. He added that the firm founders had shown long-term ambitions when they bought and integrated zero-knowledge scaling projects back in 2021.

Wyatt’s Ambitions for Polygon

Wyatt seeks to use the experience he gained from Web2 world to help add some non-Web3 elements into the Polygon chain to make it more versatile.

Further, he acknowledges that blockchains like Avalanche and Solana have recently seen significant adoption, and therefore, it is necessary to continue building to retain Web3 developers.

Wyatt says he had written a book in which he manifested leading a big firm someday. Today he is doing it, and he believes that the next tech billionaire will come from the Web3 world. He asks people to expect the next Jeff Bezos in a few years. In addition, Wyatt hopes that the future billionaire is developing their project on Polygon.
