OpenAI’s new AI chatbot, ChatGPT, has gained traction on the internet. Meanwhile, many executives in the Web3 space have voiced their opinion on how it would affect the Web3 sector.
Some executives believed the bot could help audit smart contracts, thereby improving user interactions.
ChatGPT And The Web3 Industry
Since the advent of AI, several individuals have argued that this technology spells doom for the human race. However, some individuals have opened their minds to the benefits it has to offer.
Dmitry Mishunin, HashEx CEO, opined that ChatGPT would affect the safety of smart contracts. However, the CEO noted that the effect could be positive or negative.
Developers can use AI to test smart contracts before deployment, the HashEx CEO added. This would prevent the deployment of unverified smart contracts.
Additionally, Mishunin said using AI in smart contracts could reduce attacks and exploits in the Web3 space. However, the executive feared that the future is uncertain and things could go sideways.
According to him, the tool could have devastating effects by capitalizing on loopholes and vulnerabilities to conduct cyber-attacks independently. Hence, the executive feared that AI could get out of control.
Meanwhile, Doug Brooks, a senior advisor at XinFin, argued that ChatGPT has good potential. According to Brooks, the AI tool can assist in testing and developing smart contracts.
The AI Tool Could Expose Loopholes – Naoris Protocol Co-Founder
The senior advisor stated that AI would not directly affect the smart contracts produced. “ChatGPT can improve the accuracy and efficiency of smart contract development. However, it would not affect the outcome of the smart contract,” he explained.
Brooks noted that developers could use AI for better user engagement. This would ultimately lead to an increase in the number of people using Web3 technologies.
Additionally, Monica Oravcova, co-founder of Naoris Protocol, a cybersecurity company, commented on the possible effect of ChatGPT on the Web3 space. The co-founder note that the cases of breaches could increase.
This is because the AI would expose glitches that need to be fixed. In her own words:
“Artificial Intelligence is not a living being. It can be blind to the fundamental assumptions, knowledge, and complexities that can only be perceived by people. It is a device that will strengthen flaws caused by human mistake during coding.”
Notwithstanding the negative effects, Oravcova argued that ChatGPT would have positive impacts on the Web3 sector. She added that companies could use it to develop their workflow. Also, the AI chatbot can help enterprises to increase the level of security on their platforms.
