PEPE Memecoin issuer, Pepecoin, has announced that its official Telegram account has been compromised by a malicious individual using it to promote deceptive and fraudulent activities. As a result, the network has urged its members to communicate with the platform only through its verified X account.

PEPE Community Reports Security Breach

The PEPE crypto community recently reported a security breach involving their former Telegram channel. The update reveals that the network’s previously secure channel has been compromised.

The channel’s admin account, “lordkeklol,” is now under the control of an unauthorized person. To address this critical issue, the Pepe meme coin’s administrator took to X to communicate the development.

This swift action proves the community’s seriousness in dealing with the breach and preventing loss of funds for its users. The incident also highlights the critical need for increased security measures within crypto community groups to ensure the safety of its members.

According to the platform’s update, the unauthorized entity used the compromised account to promote various fraudulent schemes, notably scam tokens. Amidst this distressing situation, Pepecoin issued an official statement emphasizing that this malicious actor has no legitimate ties to the PEPE community.

Pepecoin Proposes Counter Measures

Pepecoin further encouraged all its users to report the hacked Telegram group as “fake” to prevent other members from falling victim to the malicious actor’s fake promotions. Nevertheless, the Pepe admin is confident that the Telegram team will remove the deceptive channel after these collaborative efforts.

Meanwhile, the Pepecoin executives have unveiled a comprehensive plan to strengthen the community’s digital presence. A part of the plan entails creating a new account with advanced security measures, ensuring a robust defense mechanism against future breaches.

Once this enhanced security architecture is implemented, the executives are confident that the community can thrive and interact in a safe and secure environment. Meanwhile, the admin has highlighted an essential shift in official communication protocols.

Henceforth, the project team will exclusively provide updates and announcements through the platform’s verified X handle in the future. This strategic move aims to streamline information flow and eliminate the possibility of misinformation or mix-up while reinforcing a trustworthy communication channel between the project team and the vibrant PEPE community.

Meanwhile, the Pepecoin admin has swiftly flagged a deceitful Twitter account posing as the compromised ‘lordkeklol.’ The Pepecoin team clarified that the Twitter handle @lordkeklol has no affiliation with PEPE and encouraged users to report it for spam or impersonation.

Interestingly, the team’s up-to-date notifications follow a recent incident where some ex-members of the platform stole over 15 trillion PEPE tokens, valued at $15 million at the time of the incident.
