The former United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, reportedly received a whopping $1.2 million from a single donor. The report added that the record-breaking sum came from a crypto investor in Thailand who also holds a share in Bitifinex crypto firm Christopher Harborne.

Boris Receives About $1.2 Million Gift From Harborne 

According to the government’s register, Christopher Harborne gifted Boris Johnson LTD the large sum. It is worth mentioning that Boris Johnson LTD was the political office of the former UK Prime minister.

Meanwhile, Johnson also realized about half a million pounds when he gave a speech at ParrallelChain Lab, a crypto firm based in Singapore. This information was revealed by the UK register released on Friday.

In 2021, Harborne used his alter ego, Chakrit Sakunkrit, to hold shares at the Digifinex firm, the parent firm of Tether and Bitifinex crypto firms. In addition, the investor reportedly started contributing funds to the pro-Brexit rallies in 2019. 

He has donated about $18.3 million to the Conservative Party, the Reform, and the Brexit Party of the United Kingdom. 

Harborne Ventures Deeper Into Crypto Industry

Christopher Harborne has ventured into several crypto-related initiatives in the past. Furthermore, he has been one of the leading investors in several blockchain startups. 

For instance, a group of UK crypto advocates, Digital Currencies Governance Group (DCGG), made Harborne its lobbyist on their launch date.

Furthermore, the investor reportedly donates to INSEAD, a blockchain technology research fund created by Harborne’s former university and a partner of DCCG.

In addition, Christopher Harborne was one of the former employees at Seamico Securities. Seamico is UK based firm that offers financial services and products to customers. 

Previously, the firm announced its aim to tokenize the real estate firm. Additionally, Harborne collaborated with Marco Streng, the CEO of Genesis hedge fund, to create the collapsed Singular AI Consulting Limited. 

Singular AI went bankrupt in October 2022 as it was swept off by the massive financial restraints that stormed the crypto industry last year. According to reports, Boris Johnson relinquished his position as the Prime Minister of the UK in 2022 due to a series of scandals surrounding his name.
