The US-based e-commerce platform Amazon leads other tech and crypto firms in supporting Studio Superplastic in a $20M series A funding round. The attempt to improve Studio Superplastic’s digital presence necessitated the company to launch a financing round on February 14.
The tech company has made remarkable contributions by partnering with fast-growing companies such as Guccii and Epic Games to develop an Ethereum-based NFT collection.
International brands, including Sony, Galaxy Digital, and Google ventures, supported the February 14 funding round. The joint efforts from firms in the digital industry generated $58M surpassing Studio Superplastic’s targets of $20M.
Studio Superplastic Funding Round
Besides the funding, Superplastic had agreed to support the Amazon studio by integrating innovative features that match Hollywood standards.
Presently, the Amazon studio is working on the Janky and Guggimon film that features two Superplastic characters. The Amazon studio released the “The boys and fleabag” show.
The Amazon’s Janky and Guggimon show has two main characters, a cat and a fanged rabbit, whose role demonstrates the struggles to acquire fame and riches.
The characters featured on Superplastic shows mostly include anthropomorphized animals that illustrate reality and fiction in the real-world. Recently, the Janky and Guggimon show reached millions of social media fans due to its unique characters.
Amazon Collaboration with Superplastic Studios
An Instagram update released by Amazon studio in January considers Janky and Guggimon characters as lazy and unqualified friends. Janky has an outgoing personality that inspires him to scam others. On the contrary, Guggimon role in the film reveals his manipulative character and narcissism.
Elsewhere, a statement issued by Amazon’s head of the Alexa Financing project, Paul Benard, revealed that integrating the Superplastic character triggered the company to reach a big audience. Benard restated that adopting Superplastic characters would enable Amazon to meet the needs of the younger generation.
Besides implementing Superplastic features, Benard pushed for integrating innovative technologies, including AI and Web3 projects. Benard stated that the eCommerce platform aimed at supporting startups to pursue new technologies that would yield positive outcomes in the future.
Superplastic has launched over 25000 NFTs that challenged the firm to partner with Gucci and other international companies in the digital sector. In 2021, Superplastic invested in launching Cryptojankyz, which generated more than $15.2M
