The famous El Salvador model Alejandra Guajardo majestically showcased her glamorous Bitcoin-made costume at the 71st Miss Universe Competition held in New Orleans. The idea behind Guajardo’s Bitcoin-decorated attire was to demonstrate El Salvador’s interesting move in Bitcoin adoption.
2023 Miss Universe Event Sees Tight Race for Models
Over decades the Miss Universe Pageant has provided contestants from over 84 countries an opportunity to present their unique culture. The event aims to empower women and uphold the diverse group’s inclusivity.
At the 2023 Miss Universe Event that began on January 11 at Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, the candidates depicted to have invested more resources in preparation for the event. It was observed that the contestant majestically walked the ramp wearing ornamented bodysuits, sheer fabric with unique craftsmanship and attractive headpieces.
Despite the candidates displaying their different cultures and unique designs of their heritage, the 2023 event was exceptional. It was reported that the contestant costumes were themed to jaguars, sweet chocolates, pyramids, carnival-like creatures and radio telescope designs. Also, for the first time after the death of Queen Elizabeth, the designers imitated her stylish cap and gown.
The “Bitcoin Queen,” Alejandra Guajardo, also appeared on the runway with a goldish costume holding a Bitcoin ornament. Francisco Guerrero designed her currency-like outfit.
The creative designer Guerrero proclaimed that the ideas behind the Bitcoin costume aimed to demonstrate the future of cryptocurrency in El Salvador. Guajardo’s costume also presented the history of poor El Salvador currency, which has undergone numerous developments over the past years.
Also, the costume was attached to a huge colon decorated with cocoa-like beans. The designer restated that the colon represented the currency used in the country before the 2000s. The Bitcoin ornamented design indicated the ongoing push for crypto adoption in El Salvador.
Crypto Adoption in El Salvador
Following Guajardo’s attractive appearance at the 2023 Miss Universe Event, the Salvadorans’ pro-crypto legislators have made great moves in implementing crypto-friendly regulations. On January 12, the legislature passed the landmark crypto bill.
The bill’s approval was supported by most members of the Legislative Assembly, who upheld the issuance of Bitcoin-backed bonds in the country.
Nonetheless, the proposed digital assets aim to reduce the country’s debt by financing crypto-mining activities. The legislators’ moves signaled their desire for the establishment of the long-awaited “Bitcoin City” El Salvador plans to fund by half of the proceeds from bitcoin-backed bonds.
