Holders of the Hublot and Murakami NFT collection are set to receive 12 timepieces. The project features the partnership of Japanese artist Murakami with the Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches. The program targets to release real-world timepieces associated with the previously released non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Murakami-Hublot Artistic Project

The collection would constitute the fourth artistic project Murakami is launching in partnership with Hublot. Additionally, the 13 unique NFTs derive inspiration from Japanese video games. Also, Japanese television shows of the 1970s inspire the latest collection. Uniquely, the NFTs model will replicate the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami watch utilizing the All Black model initiated in January 2021.

Hublot plans to release the collection of 13 physical timepieces during the April Watches & Wonders 2023 event slated for April in Geneva. The digital replica will feature the unique rainbow features that mirror Murakami’s smiling flower emblem. Nonetheless, twelve watches are exclusive for the collector who bought the April 2022 collection of 324 Murakami and Hublit NFTs.

Ownership of All Black Timepiece

The final timepiece collection unveiled during the January 2 New York event involves a spinning flow fitted with rubies and amethysts. The watch unveiling during the Classic Fusion event demonstrated that it features tsavorites, topaz, and sapphires.

The address delivered by the Hublot representative restated that holders can consider reselling the 12 NFTs on OpenSea. However, the holders have a timeline lapsing in April 2024. The Swiss watchmaker’s executive indicated that if a single collector bought all 12 NFTs would qualify to acquire the iconic Black Ceramic Rainbow watch. The representative added that failure by a single collector to purchase the 12 NFTs collection would trigger the sale of the coveted watch at an auction convened by Hublot for a fundraising charity project.

Murakami’s Active Involvement in NFTs

The input of Murakami in releasing NFTs mirrors his previous involvement in launching similar collections. In particular, he played a critical role in March 2021 in releasing the Murakami Flowers collection.

Murakami partnered with Nike in November 2021 to release the CloneX via the RTFKT digital wearable studio. Later in April 2022, he would introduce the Cryptokicks NFT sneaker with a price tag of 45ETH, translating to $134,000.
